LoL Honor Level and Honor Rewards

In the past honor in League of Legends was based only on how many honors your have, and except for ribbons shown while the match was loading and summoner icons for the 10% players with most honors in one of the four categories.

In season 7 Riot has introduced a more rewarding and complex honor system for League.

But the honor now doesn’t base only on how many honors you have received, but also on the Matchmade games you have played.
Points that you get for playing and getting honored by your teammates increase your honor Level.

Now after every game played before entering the post-game lobby, you get a chance to honor one of your teammates for one of the three categories:

• Staying calm – for a teammate who made your game experience more positive.
• Leadership and strategy – for someone who had the ability to lead your team to victory.
• For teamplay and being friendly – to a helpful player that didn’t fit to other categories.

Currently you can progress from honor level 0 until the maximum of honor level 5.
Each one of the honor levels include 3 checkpoints, for which you can get a reward when you reach them.
At the end of each season you will get rewards according to the honor level you ended with.

The honor level will also reset:

• Honor level 5 resets to level 2, checkpoint 3.
• Honor level 4 resets to level 2, checkpoint 2.
• Honor level 3 resets to level 2, checkpoint 1.
• Honor level 2 resets to level 2 without any checkpoint reached.

Players reported for bad behaviour and toxicity will have their honor level decreased, and won’t be able to level up for a short period of time. The loss depends on how big of a penalty you get, for example:

• If you did not get a chat restriction but the bad behaviour was noticed – your honor experience gain is lowered.
• If you get a chat restriction, you get demoted to level 1 (level 0 if you are already at level 1).
• If you get a 14-day ban, you get demoted to level 0.

After reaching honor level 2, you will get key fragments used for Hextech crafting, which are distributed from time to time to players with honor level two and above.
Aside the rewards you get periodically, for reaching checkpoints aside the key fragments you can also get honor capsules and honor orbs. Players with level above three will also be able to get temporary flairs visible in their loading screen.

Honor capsules are granted for reaching honor levels 3, 4 and 5. They don’t require a Hextech key to open, and can contain key fragments, ward skins, emotes, champion shards and honor-exclusive skins.

Honor orbs are granted for reaching checkpoint 1 at honor level of 3 and 4, which contain two key fragments and a champion shard. As honor level 5 doesn’t have checkpoints you can still get a honor orb as regularly as you would reach a checkpoint in lower honor levels. The honor level 5 orb contains 3 key fragments and a champion shard.

Loading screen flairs can be earned by getting honored by two premade teammates, or one non-premade teammate. After a game that you have been honored, on the loading screen of the next game you play the flair will be visible on your border. the flairs last for one game, but if you get an honor again, the flair wouldn’t disappear for the next game.

Honor season rewards are awarded at the end of each season to every player that has reached at least honor level 3. The awards for both season 7 and season 8 in League of Legends were unique ward skins for level 3, 4 and 5, depending on which the player has reached.

There are two rare skins in League of Legends that can be acquired only through increasing your honor level.
Grey Warwick and Medieval Twitch were previously awarded for the Refer a friend program that Riot unfortunately closed, and now the only way of unlocking them is as a reward for honorable players.
After reaching honor level 3 you have a chance to get one of the two skins that can be acquired only through honor progression.

From the honor level 3 and 4 capsule you have a chance of getting the Grey Warwick or Medieval Twitch skin.

They can be acquired also from the honor level 5 capsule, this however guarantees you one of the skins.
If you already have both of the skins, you will get a chroma for one of the skins, an emote, or a ward skin will be rewarded instead.
