WoW Shadowlands players who create a Death Knight in WotLK Classic and pass the tutorial will be eligible to get the new Frostbrood Proto-Wyrm mount, to use on all their Shadowlands characters.
This cool mount is relatively easy to get, you don’t have to grind specific instances or go through a very boring process of farming reputation to obtain it.
Instead, you do not only get a chance to re-live one of the previous expansions in World of Warcraft, but you earn yourself an awesome icy-themed Frostbrood Proto-Drake mount in preparation for the Dragonflight expansion, which is also coming out in December 2022.
Keep in mind that to earn the frosty good-looking mount, you need to pass the questline to the point where your character joins one of the main factions :
- For Horde players: “Warchief’s Blessing” is completed in Orgrimmar by talking to Thrall.
- For Alliance players: “Where Kings Walk” is completed in Stormwind City by visiting King Varian Wrynn.
How do you play WotLK Classic?
You can play Wrath of the Lich King Classic by clicking the “Game Version” Menu in your Battle.net Application. After you pick your desired game version, you will have to simply press the “Play” button as you do for Retail.
We recommend picking some lower populated servers. After the release of Wrath of the Lich King pre-patch, the highly populated servers have been exploding, and the login queues are insanely long, especially in the evenings where the queues would sometimes be hours worth of wait time.
If you need only the mount, you can create your DK on any server except for the “Fresh Start” servers, which is especially useful because the fewer players are in the zone, the less likely it is that the mobs will be all dead – which will make questing annoying. If you pick a medium or low population server, it will drastically speed up the process of earning the new Frostbrood Proto-Wyrm mount.
Another thing that helps a bunch is installing Addons for Classic WoW, like Questie – it will make your journey even shorter, considering without Addons the game doesn’t really have any sort of indicator where are the quest objectives.
What is Wrath of the Lich King Classic?
WotLK Classic is a version of World of Warcraft, in which you can re-discover what the game was like back in 2008 when the original expansion was released. The game differs quite a lot from World of Warcraft. Having to go to a class trainer to learn a spell seems absurd, considering in regular WoW you learn spells as you level up, and the newly learned abilities are dropped on your action bars.
Many believe WotLK was the best WoW Expansion of all time. Many people have been waiting for this specific expansion to be re-released since World of Warcraft Classic was announced at Blizzcon in 2017. Now that the expansion has finally arrived, some players are leaving retail servers, and switching to Classic until the new expansion – Dragonflight – comes out.
Why was WotLK the best Expasion?
Wrath of the Lich King brought an enormous number of changes to WoW.
It not only introduced the first big bad in World of Warcraft, but for the first time in the game’s history, you could feel like the protagonist of your own story. The lore of the expansion was also much more thoughtful and deep than the previous two giants.
Wrath also rejuvenated raiding and PVP, and balanced out most of the classes.
It also added a lot of new features to the game, like the “LFG” tool, which makes grouping a lot easier compared to the spammed “Looking for Group” channel.
Yet another great addition was Achievements and Mounts. All of a sudden, the entire game was after the mounts obtained from the glory achievements, or the first ever open-world rare – the Time-Lost Proto-Drake in Storm Peaks.
